Katrina Hollister, her twin sister Kiara, and their quirky group of pre-teen friends find themselves playing spy during their summer vacation in the prestigious gated community of Sinclair Estates.
Not only does Katrina, and her crew investigate why ginormous mushrooms are randomly appearing then disappearing when their strange new neighbor is about, but she must also deal with the up-and-coming teen sensation who moved in across the street and stole her crush. To make things worse, her mother starts dating her crush’s gorgeous father—all of which she must stop.

Absolutely loved this story. This is one of the few books that works for both girls and boys, and for readers and non-readers alike. Loved the diverse characters and plot twists! Great read
This was a fun book--an updated Nancy Drew type of mystery. Main character Katrina is a spunky heroine with a lot to deal with. There's her opposite, sloppy twin Kiara, and then there's the boy she's got a crush on. Plus, her divorced mom is dating, and she's not happy. To make matters worse, the boy she's crushing on just happens to be her mother's boyfriend's son. To complicate things even more, strange neighbors have moved into the gated community, leading Katrina and her friends into a mystery.
I loved Katrina's funny group of friends and the diversity of her neighbors. This was a fun middle grade read with plenty of unexpected twists! |
